Rayla Tate’s life is about to turn vertical…again. As if it wasn’t bad enough her mother disappeared under questionable circumstances leaving Rayla to be raised by her aunt in a horrendously small town. Her overprotective guardian is determined to ruin Rayla’s life. She refuses to let Rayla out of her sight or out of the state. Provincial living might be what her aunt demands of her purposely sheltered niece; but, Rayla has other ideas. In a desperate attempt to follow her dreams she flees the safety of her home and runs away to college with her best friend toward a bright future in the art world.

However, excitement over her newfound freedom turns into terror when she is chased by a mysterious stranger on her way to school. When his motorcycle suddenly morphs into a fire-breathing pegasus, Rayla questions her sanity. Worse, the man riding next to her stirs a burning desire in her soul she has never known or could have ever imagined. Using all the will she owns, she manages to resist the compulsion she feels; yet, as he disappears into the night, she is certain he hasn't gone far.

Rayla quickly dismisses the encounter to her overactive imagination. She is determined to settle into her new life, yet the images and feelings of that night still haunt her. To make matters worse, her aunt seems to be in on the act, insisting that Rayla will soon be hunted by a pack of fae lords for a power over the elements she never knew she possessed—a power that could change the world. Quicker than she ever thought possible, she finds herself surrounded by stunning men that all seem determined to win her heart. Why does she feel drawn to each one of them? More importantly, what dark power do they hold over her? Rayla must quickly learn to fend off these beautiful and seductive pursuers using whatever means necessary or find herself lost to the fae world forever.

Five was a magical and engrossing read. Once I started reading it, I really couldn't stop. The story was good, the characters were nice and the way it was executed was truly awesome. The execution of the concept was ah-mazingly done by Ms. Rich.

Even though I really liked the story, I can't say the same for the main female protagonist. I mean, it felt like all she ever did in the book was whine, ruin the situations even further, get attracted to faeries and whine some more. Even if she had done something good, I probably can't remember it because she honestly irritated me A LOT. I can't say I absolutely hate her but I don't like her that much either. Maybe in the next book, she'll be less whiner..?

All the other characters were nice and I might possibly be in love with Luke. There's just something in that name. And the guy himself was amazing. I mean, I really did like Zach but I felt that Luke was much, much better than him. Of course, he could've been even more cooler if he had the awesome Pegasus instead of Zach.

The exact rating for this book would be 3.5 mainly because I didn't find Rayla's POV much interesting. Other than that, I found Ms. Rich's writing style totally flawless and the magical feeling that I always want and expect in faery novels, was well put in this book. I would like to see how/if Zach and Luke destroy that "machine" in the next book,

When gorgeous and mysterious Lewis Douglas arrives he destroys everything Cameron has ever believed and tempts her with possibilities of freedom. Determined to embrace her hidden talents, Cameron heads to a secret haven with Lewis; a place where she meets others like her, Mind Readers.

But as Cameron soon finds out some things are too good to be true. When the Mind Readers realize the extent of Cameron’s abilities, they want to use her powers for their own needs. Cameron suddenly finds herself involved in a war in which her idea of what is right and wrong is greatly tested. In the end she’ll be forced to make a choice that will not only threaten her relationship with Lewis, but her very life.

My Review- The Mind Readers was a pretty good read for me. The base storyline was different and nicely written and the characters were given a certain admirable depth. Even though at times Cameron became too whiny for my taste, I still liked the way Ms. Brighton kept a steady pace of her change in attitude towards life.

The first part of the book just sucked me in! I really couldn’t stop reading. This book really made me second-guess my own thoughts. What if someone could hear my thoughts? What would they think? What do I think about my thoughts? This was the BESTEST part in the whole book and it really made me wonder about a lot of stuff.

Everything was awesome till the entry of our supposed hero of the book, Lewis. It wasn’t probably Cam’s fault for falling for him but that still didn’t stop me from thinking about strangling her when she sooooo easily believed him and his cheesy dialogues. I mean, the guy was feeding her crap and she just blindly took it without even questioning it much. That made her a weak protagonist for me. It was damn frustrating to see her make such stupid mistakes and that’s when I lost some of my interest in the story. The middle part was okay, but nothing as fun as the first part. However, my interest in the story again went soaring when the main action scene came in the last part.

I guess the only characters I liked in the story were Maddox and the little girl whose name was somewhat similar to Cameron (dang I forgot her name!) who was pretty mature for her age. And both of these characters had a very tiny role in the story so needless to say, it was a little disappointing. But I’m sure that in the next, Maddox is gonna play a bigger part (yay!) and maybe there’s gonna be a love triangle..? Atleast, that’s what I could gather from the ending of Mind Readers.

All in all, this book was likeable enough to give it a four stars, although more accurately it’s somewhat between a 3 and a 4 star for me. I think many YA book lovers are gonna love eet! :D

Summary:Liza had her life planned to perfection and everything fitted flawlessly.... except for a little infatuation about a boy named Liam.

My Review: I didn't understand what was the point of writing this book/short story. It was like it ended even before it started. While writing a story, aren't you supposed to add some matter in it? Ok, maybe the author didn't want to make this a novel and just finished it in 10 pages but even then, where was the story in this???

Oh, and starting your storybook with your female protagonist cleaning a toilet? Bad idea. The story was like, girl likes popular guy but tells everyone and herself how much she hates him because you know, she's actually having a huge crush on him. And right after then there's the ending where they kiss and tada! The girl finds out that the guy liked her too and the two rivals become lovers. The end. Awww, isn't the story sweet? -.-

Summary: Rose Zarelli, self-proclaimed word geek and angry girl, has some confessions to make…1. I'm livid all the time. Why? My dad died. My mom barely talks. My brother abandoned us. I think I'm allowed to be irate, don't you?

2. I make people furious regularly. Want an example? I kissed Jamie Forta, a badass guy who might be dating a cheerleader. She is now enraged and out for blood. Mine.

3. High school might as well be Mars. My best friend has been replaced by an alien, and I see red all the time. (Mars is red and "seeing red" means being angry—get it?)

Here are some other vocab words that describe my life: Inadequate. Insufferable. Intolerable.

My review: Confessions Of An Angry Girl was an okay read for me. The cover and the summary truly desscribe the story perfectly! And I really, really loved the cover.
The beginning was really irritating mainly because of the whiny protagonist, but as the story moved on, it got better to a point where I couldn't put it down before finshing it.
The writing style of Ms. Rozett was awesome! Even if you didn't like the characters, her way of writing out her story will automatically make you wanna read more and that's one of the best thing I liked about this novel. The story was fine but the way it ended was ah-mazing and had a bit of a cliff-hanger.

Quite frankly, I did not like Rose. Not at all. I really tried to understand her reasons for being such an uptight snob but couldn't. So yes, her dad died and it was justified for her to feel angry and upset and a bit confused. But that still doesn't give you a free pass to act all mean and rude with other people who care about you. In the first half of the book, I honestly felt like throwing a big car on her, don't ask me why. She reminded me slightly of Bridget from Here Lies Bridget.

Jamie was fine but he lost a LOT of brownie points from me when he kissed Rose twice while he was still in another relationship. That's not what decent guys do and no matter how many reasons were behind him cheating on his girlfriends, it's still too wrong for me to actually like him that much. Aside from this, Jamie was likable, I guess. Although I never really could find anything bad-ass about him. Hmph, maybe it's just me..?

All the other characters were nice, and realistic. This book showed many things that happen to us in real life and also showed us how to deal with them. The message was really nice and overall, the story was good and worth reading atleast once. I really want to read the next book in the series, Confessions Of An Almost Girlfriend and see what happens next in Rose's life :)

My review: The title matches the story PERFECTLY! Sweetness was full of small bits (and sometimes big ones)of sweetness throughout the story. There were so many "awwwwww" moments and wonderfully executed scenes. I loved Lindsay Paige's writing style. It was simple and yet quite efficiently got the message through. All the characters were understandable and the story itself was AH-MAZING.

Character-wise Emily was okay. She was too..weak to be likeable in the beginning, but slowly as I got to know her and her story better, I started liking her. Sometimes, her childish nature became really irritating but overall, she was just fine I guess.

Jake was...well I don't know how to describe him. Guys like him are not real. He was SUPER understanding, SUPER patient, SUPER good-looking, SUPER sweet, SUPER everything. In short, HE WAS SUPERB!! While reading the story, I couldn't believe that a guy can do so much for a girl he likes. It was adorable. I think Jake sort of tops my list of sweetest guys in books. His character was fantabulous and his POV in the story was truly well-written by Ms. Paige.

The other characters were pretty cool too but I can't say much about them since the whole story basically revolved around Emily and Jake. I really liked Emily's dad and also little Drake. His upbeat and enthusiastic nature was cute and interesting.

All in all, Sweetness was really, really good and if you're a YA romance lover then you're absolutely gonna love it! With it's swoon-worthy and still in limits romantic scenes, enjoyable characters and an AWESOME story, it'll surely make your heart go pitter-pat! :D

A Chance For Charity is about Charity, who's an immortal. She lives with her made-up uncle and aunt who're also immortals. Several years ago, Charity was in love with a guy named Roger who died in a war. The death of her beau left Charity heart-broken, so much so, that she even tried to commit suicide but failed again and again since she was immortal and any injury automatically healed supernaturally fast.
That was when Charity got to know that she was supernatural, with the help of her then-neighbors James and Catherine. After that incident James and Catherine took Charity under their wings (since she was an orphan) and became Charity's uncle and aunt.
Years pass by, and the little family keeps on moving from one town to another, changing their identities with each shift. Why, you ask? Well, everything isn't so easy in the paranormal world. There are hunters aka Lords, a family who thinks that the immortals are evil and need to be wiped off from the face of the earth. And so, the immortals need to be extra careful and in no way ever come across these hunters.

So, like that the Johnstons family reaches Telluride, where for the first time in a very long time, Charity finds herself finally making some friends. She also meets gorgeous Lincoln aka Link there and instantly finds herself attracted to him. The story then goes on as Charity introduces her paranormal world to Link and how they, along with Charity's family protect themselves form the threat that always looms above them-The Lords/Hunters.

Throughout the story, I couldn't decide whether I wanted to love this book or immediately delete it from my kindle. The starting was fabulous-I loved it. But as it got nearer to the end, somehow the story started losing its charm. Many dialogues were repeated and even though I'm pretty sure the author had done it purposely, I still can't say I liked that part very much.
Even though, I really, really liked Charity and Link's relationship, I couldn't help but roll my eyes when they so suddenly shifted from "magnetic pull/attraction like no other" to "God, I love you!". Aside from this, I liked almost everything else in this book, from the cover to the nicely thought of plot.
The idea of immortals and the paranormal world in this book wasn't entirely new but still fun and good to read.

I really liked Charity's character as she had strength along with awesome looks and pretty good wits. There was no forced love-triangle (yay!) and all the characters were interesting to read about.

Overall, I enjoyed reading A Chance For Charity and maybe I'll continue the series. Or maybe not. :)

Initially, when I started Dead Beautiful I immediately compared Twilight with this because the basic theme WAS pretty similar to Twilight.
Here's what the story is about,
Renee comes from sunny California to the cold, cold Gottfried Academy in Maine when her parents mysteriously die of heart-attack at the same time and same place.
Even though everyone tells her that's how they actually died, Renee doesn't believe it. Nor does her grandfather. He thinks that Renee would no longer be safe in her parent's place and thus, sends her to Gottfried Academy, where she meets Dante on her first day. Instantly, she's attracted to him. Her room-mate, Eleanor tells her how Dante hasn't mixed up with anybody since the year before and how she's the first person he's actually talked to after a long time.
Initially, she thinks that Dante is too weird for her but after he starts giving her Latin lessons after school, she starts liking him. (I have no idea why she exactly liked him. Maybe it was the "beautiful" and "perfect" looks. Or maybe she just liked weird, secretive and boring guys.)
In Gottfried Academy, Renee sees/experiences many strange things. Namely, the death of Benjamin who also died of heart attack the year before and the sudden transfer of his girlfriend soon after his death. As Renee investigates further, she finds that such incidents have been happening in the academy for a long time. Many called it the "Gottfried Curse". Renee feels that these incidents are somehow linked with the death of her parents and she's bent on finding out who's behind all this...

I think I would've actually liked this book, if the romantic part wasn't so typical and the story was described in fewer words. Scenes which could've been explained in a page or two actually took almost five pages. Needless to say, the story got pretty boring after a few chapters and a lot of skipping pages took place. About halfway through the book, I totally gave up and almost discontinued it but then I decided not to because I honestly WANTED to know the mystery behind her parents death and how exactly dead people turned into walking, talking and weirdly beautiful zombies. (I still have a hard time relating good-looks with zombies, and I totally blame it on the zombie movies I've seen and games I've played)

I felt that Dante was the zombie version of Edward Cullen. No really, I couldn't believe how similar both the characters were. The same can be said for Renee but I found her a bit more childish, self-absorbed and annoyingly "flawless" than Bella. That's another big problem I had with this book. ALL the characters were just so...perfect. After a while it just gets hard not to roll your eyes at their perfect-ness. I don't think Renee made even a single teeny-tiny mistake throughout the story except maybe being too self-absorbed to think about her missing best friend/room-mate. I also found Dante and Renee's relationship too rushed. No matter how weird Dante got, she still just ignored it all and that was SUPER irritating.

I can't really say I absolutely disliked this book because I didn't. I really liked the mystery parts of this book. The things which weren't supposed to be figured out till the end, remained that way and I liked it. I especially liked guessing what's gonna happen next and being wrong. But frankly, the execution of the story wasn't that impressive. But I still think, Ms. Woon would make a good mystery author. Hush, Hush and Evermore fans would like this story. But that's just my opinion. :)

Me:  First of all, tell us a little about yourself.

Wynne: I write for a national newspaper in Canada. I teach dance. I am fully prepared for a zombie invasion.

Me:  When did you first realize that you wanted to be an author?

Wynne: I’ve never wanted to be anything else. (There was a brief period when I was seven when I wanted to be a WWE wrestler so I could paint my face and wear tights.)

Me: Who designed the cover for your book?

Wynne: This amazing artist from Portugal named Liliana Sanches Davis. We worked together to come up with something that reflected the drama in the story. I love it.

Me: What was your inspiration for writing an awesome story like What Kills Me?

Wynne: I was living in Taiwan for a few months and I had a few cockroaches as roommates. Needless to say, I couldn’t sleep, afraid they’d throw a party in my mouth. So I’d lie awake, thinking crazy things: “What would happen if I suddenly disappeared?” “What if I fell into a hole? What if that hole was filled with blood?” Man, that would be gross. The image of a young woman climbing out of a well, soaked in blood, was what started it all. I should probably thank the cockroaches (well, had I not squished them).

Me:  Which book are you working on right now?

Wynne: I’m working on the sequel to What Kills Me so the adventure continues...

Me: Now for the rapid fire round..!

Me: If you could be any mythological creature for one day, what would you like to be?

Wynne: I’d be a genie and I’d go around granting extravagant wishes. (Though, it would suck to be squished into a lamp...)

Me: Blue hair or pink hair?

Wynne: Blue! Like Aja on Jem and the Holograms.

Me:   Which actor/actress would you choose for the roles of Lucas/Zee?

Wynne: I have no idea. I’d prefer to let readers see the heroes as they imagine them in their minds. As for other characters, the vampire empress is inspired by Isabella Rossellini in Death Becomes Her. Liam Neeson would make a good Noel.

Me:   Cupcakes, tarts or pastries? What do you prefer?

Wynne: I have pretty high standards for cupcakes (I’ve judged cupcake contests before). They have to be moist and light. Otherwise, it’s a muffin.

  

Me:   Name some of your favourite authors and why? 

Wynne: Oh, I have so many. Jane Austen, Rohinton Mistry, and Ernest Hemingway. Because their books are sitting on my desk right now.

After reading so many vampire themed books, I was a little unsure whether I would like this one or not. But fortunately, What Kills Me didn't disappoint me. The story was action-packed, funny, intriguing and most importantly, had oh-so-awesome characters.

When I first read the summary of this book, I was like, "OMG, the girl emerges as a vampire from a blood well!" and expected the scene to be something like this,



So imagine my surprise when it was nothing that dramatically dumb but actually pretty sensible. :P

The starting was OK, the middle part was amazing and by the time I ended it, I was like "NO, WAIT!! I want more Axelia and Lucas!!"

There were many, many parts in the story which were interesting as well as funny. I really liked Axelia and her quirky, upbeat nature as well as her sense of humour. No matter how hard the situations got, she got over it and moved on to become a kick-ass super vampire unlike ahem some characters I could mention(NoraEverGraceBellaetc.etc.) but obviously I won't since I'm so nice and all.

I liked Axelia's and Lucas' chemistry which (THANKFULLY!) wasn't lurrrv at first sight or anything like that. Instead, it took a backseat in the story like a soft background music.
The story itself had a strong base and not even once I felt like discontinuing it. There were so many times when a certain scene would come up and I would think, Hey! This scene would look awesome in a movie!

Overall, What Kills Me was truly commendable for a debut novel and Ms. Channing did an absolutely great job! I can't wait to read more of her books-to-come!

City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare

Gosh it took me forever to read this but honestly? It was worth it! The story was even more amazing than the swoon-worthy cover and I absolutely loved eet!

Cassandra Clare's writing style was just as awesome as ever and it was hard not to keep smiling throughout the novel. The story was really nicely executed and fun to read through and through.
I liked Clary's character even more this time and even though she was a little too reckless sometimes, it was what made the story itself so damn interesting.

Jace was even more fun to read about and the whole time Jace and Clary were together, I was like Oh my god, what's gonna happen now?? I think I fell in love with him a little more in this book. :P

As for Sebastian, well it might seem silly, but there were so many times when I just felt like jumping inside the book and beat the crap out of him and other times when I just wished he didn't have demon blood and so much darkness in him. His villain-ness was both interesting and irritating at the same time.

All the other characters (Simon, Isabelle, Alec, Magnus, Jordan, Maia and etc. etc. etc.) were just as awesome but for some reason, I don't think I'm ever gonna like their stories better than Jace and Clary's.
I mean, throughout the novel, the story kept shifting from one scenario to another and it was slightly annoying to read what those characters were doing when I was just so engrossed in Clary and Jace. It was like watching your favourite television program and being interrupted again and again with commercials. Not that those commercials weren't good..and if not for them, I don't think the story would've been that nicely executed. But still.

Overall, this book just flew me away and I can hardly keep my excitement for the next book, City of Heavenly Fire Oh man, I want to read this book BEFORE the world actually ends but that's not gonna happen, is it? Thanks to the far, far away publishing date. >:(

PS: Yes, I actually believe the world's gonna end this year.

Babe in Boyland was a cute, fun read but nothing really new. While I was reading it, it was hard not to smile throughout the story. It was nicely written, had interesting characters and great punch lines.

Natalie was a really awesome character and I liked her throughout the story. She was fun, quirky and not afraid to try something new. When she realized she was actually not helping anybody as Dr. Aphrodite and only telling girls stuff they wanted to hear, she immediately had that spark to get better. She genuinely wanted to help girls out with their problems and I liked that about her.



As for Emilio, he seemed nice but I can't say I liked him all that much. I mean, a hot, smart guy with zero real friends? Yeah, right. And then when his new weird roommate comes, he SUDDENLY feels like he has a friend whom he can "connect with"? Seriously?

Anyway, even though the story had nothing new to offer, it was still a light, enjoyable read. :)
