Shadow Kiss by Richelle Mead
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Shadow Kiss is the only book in the Vampire Academy series that managed keep me interested throughout the story. There were so many new things getting added up that it was hard not to be intrigued. Even though the beginning was slightly boring, the story as a whole was oh-so-awesome. All the action scenes were absolutely perfect and damn exciting. Rose was amazing and even though many a times she seemed a bit weak, in the end she was as kick-ass as ever. Her strategies during the war against Strigoi , intelligence and not being over emotional during several instances was inspiring and good to read.
The end was really, really cool and surprising. Well, it would've been if I didn't know that part already but still there was just so much going on in the second-half of the book and so much anticipation as to what was gonna happen next that it was really hard to do anything else except continuing reading the book.
The love-triangle between Rose-Adrian-Dimitri was also just as exciting and Rose's chemistry with Dimitri was intensified in this book. Even though I've always preferred Adrian over Dimitri, it was hard not to like him and his boldness and maturity during the story. Sometimes he seemed so different from Rose and other times they seemed like exact copies of each other. It was confusing and endearing at the same time.
The way Shadow Kiss was executed was totally mind-blowing and wonderful. The best part of the book was the second-half and if it hadn't been for the amazing action scenes, I guess I would've given this one 3 or 3 and a half stars.
